Q: How can I report on materials?

You can report on archival or other cultural material you have located by registering on the platform here and then reporting on the material here. In any case, you are advised to read and understand the Terms of Use before reporting on the material. You are required to accept the Terms of Use upon registration!

Q: Can I report on material which is in my possession?

You can report on your own material on the platform according to the reporting process

Q: Can I report on material that is in my possession without turning it in?

You can report on your own material, as long as it is private. Should you not wish to hand it over to the archival entity concerned, it is imperative that you allow the entity/ organization access to and documentation of the material. The partial or overall digitization-photographing of the material by the entity/ organization may also be required.

Q: Am I allowed to buy or sell material through the platform?

Under no circumstances should the platform be used for profit.

Q: Do I have any obligations after reporting the material?

After reporting the material, users have no more obligations whatsoever.

Q: What happens to the material I report?

Upon reporting of the material, the closest concerned entity/organization is informed in writing. Furthermore AT informs the National Inventory of Archives at the Central Service of the General State Archives (G.S.A.) of Greece, about any declaration/report of archival material, as defined by the legislation in force (ΦΕΚ Α 69 14/5/1991). After accepting the report, the entity/ organization performs an in situ survey in order to salvage the material. If the material is salvaged and preserved, it is archived and made available to the public, according to the regulations of each entity/ organization.

Q: Which are the collaborating entities /organizations?

To pursue the objectives of the platform, we collaborate with private and public non-profit organizations who have archival of bibliographic collections and ensure free access to their materials.

Q: Can I choose the entity/ organization that will receive the material?

You can select/suggest the entity/organization you wish to donate your private personal archive from the list of collaborating entities/organizations. If the archive is public the Central Service of the Genera State Archives will be informed, as defined by the legislation in force (ΦΕΚ Α 69 14/5/1991). Furthermore AT informs the National Inventory of Archives at the Central Service of the General State Archives (G.S.A.) of Greece, about any declaration/report of archival material, as defined by the legislation in force (ΦΕΚ Α 69 14/5/1991).

Q: Will you keep me posted about what happens to the material?

The report file of the platform is updated with news of the preservation process of the material

Q: What happens if an organization/entity fails to respond?

If an organization/entity does not respond, Arxeion Taxis will try to interconnect the material with its producer with the aim of preserving the material.

Q: Can I upload/ post digitized archival material?

The Archive Alert platform does not allow the uploading and posting of digitized documents.

Q: What happens to my report of archival material?

The report of archival material you have submitted will be notified to the competent entity/organization. Furthermore AT informs the National Inventory of Archives at the Central Service of the General State Archives (G.S.A.) of Greece, about any declaration/report of archival material, as defined by the legislation in force (ΦΕΚ Α 69 14/5/1991).
